World Class Facilities
As a training venue for elite athletes from home and internationally, you’d expect our sports and leisure facilities to be world class, and you wouldn’t be wrong. We offer indoor and outdoor sports training facilities, a gym, changing areas, accommodation and more. Our National Sports Centres are venues for everyone - from the start of your elite athlete journey, to Olympian.
UK Sports Institute
The UK Sports Institute (UKSI) delivers a range of performance impacting sport science, sport medicine, technology and engineering solutions to Olympic and Paralympic sports along with a select number of non-Olympic sports.
Services are available to UK world class funded athletes from both summer and winter sports, across all the home nations and allocated to athletes through each National Governing Body of sport.
UK Sports Institute Performance Centre at Lilleshall
The UK Sports Institute (UKSI) Performance Centre at Lilleshall National Sports and Conferencing Centre provides training facilities and expertise for a range of Olympic and Paralympic medal winning athletes including sports such as Gymnastics and Archery.
The strength and conditioning facilities are designed specifically for elite athletes and deliver optimum performance across a range of sports.
Equipment in the UKSI gym include:
- Olympic lifting platforms
- Squat Cages
- Large free weights area
- Plyometric equipment
- There is also an Athletes Lounge on site, where they are able to rest between sessions and meet with support teams.
The UKSI also has a team of Sport Science and Sport Medicine practitioners delivering support services from the centre. These include; Sport Medicine, Physiotherapy, Soft Tissue Therapy, Performance Nutrition, Performance Psychology, Performance Analysis, Biomechanics and Performance Lifestyle. Cutting edge technology and engineering equipment and/or bespoke projects also compliment the breadth of support the UKSI delivers to the sports with which it works.
Lilleshall Clinic
Lilleshall Clinic have a pedigree in the elite sports world, helping Olympic and Commonwealth athletes compete at the very highest levels, covering Physiotherapy, Massage, Podiatry, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation for over 30 years.
Whilst Lilleshall Clinic have become synonymous with the rehabilitation of injured professional and elite sports people, the services are available to all visitors to Lilleshall either on a residential or non-residential basis. Discounts are available to residential guests.
Nutrition & Catering
Lilleshall Catering has achieved the Food Hygiene rating of 5 reflecting the standards found by the Shropshire Council Food Safety Team. We have a well-balanced kitchen brigade where our Chefs are well skilled in Fine Dining, Event Catering and meeting the daily catering needs of our resident National Governing Bodies.
Our food is produced using certain health conscious ingredients and wherever possible, this includes the use of local and/or regional produce to nurture the notion of seasonality.
We aim to provide food and services which exceed your requirements and can propose ideas which may assist you in planning your catering needs. We are also happy to work with your own nutritionists to develop menus that meet your needs.
